Jacqueline Lee Roland

-

Jacqueline Lee Roland was born May 23rd, 1955 to Carl Bernard & Vera Roland in Kansas City, Missouri. Departed this life surrounded by family in prayer and walked into the arms of Jesus on May 19th, 2024. The youngest of 5 siblings- Debbie, Steve, Brenda (Bobbie) and Bernie. Preceded in death by her parents and both brothers Steve and Bernie. Jacqueline moved to Wilmington California at a young age. She would often be seen playing in the dirt with the boys more than hanging with the girls. In San Pedro, she met a sailor in the navy and they would marry. This brought her to Texas. They would live in Decker, Sonora, and Sweetwater. While in Sweetwater they had two boys, Peyton and Steven. After divorcing, Jacqueline moved to Big Spring where she attended Howard College to pursue nursing, however injuries sustained in an auto accident would not allow her to complete that dream. She held a variety of jobs. Some of her favorites were being a care taker of handicap and elderly people. Her most fulfilling was being an ordained minister and chaplain. She moved to Tulsa for a season where she attended Victory Bible College and gained her degree allowing her to be an ordained minister. She moved back to Texas after discovering she would be a MeMe for the very first time. The birth of Mason brought her the greatest joy. Cooper added to this joy a few years later. Besides her family, her next greatest joy in life was her ministry to others and traveling. She loved to see the world and brought both of these together by going on several missionary trips to Brazil, India, and Israel. She enjoyed these trips very much and always looked forward to them. She would always bring her family souvenirs from each place she visited. You will not meet a more caring and giving person. She didn’t have much but she always gave what she could and sometimes what she couldn’t. She would give to you even if it meant her doing without. She loved the visits from her friends and ladies from the church. She loved to cook for them and the opportunity to fellowship. She never met a stranger. She had no problem walking up to a complete stranger and witnessing to them about Christ. This was her true calling. Her courage was strong but her filter was weak. She never had a problem expressing how she felt. Her last calling in life was being the chaplain of the emergency services for Howard County. She took this calling very serious and loved helping out the first responders and assisting those in need whether it was calls to the ER for a crisis, helping a family overcome a house fire, or setting up a wayward traveler in a hotel room for the night. She just loved helping people. Her heart was gold. She served as an emergency corps chaplain from October 2013-October 2023. Being lead chaplain from May 2021-Oct. 2023. This is something she was proud of.

But of course, her greatest pride comes from her grandsons, Mason and Cooper. She tried to attend as many functions as possible. From a game to a track meet, to a play performance. She always wanted to be there. And we could never get a schedule to her fast enough. She was the best MeMe.

Left to cherish her memory and miss her terribly are sons, Peyton Sedberry and wife Mindy, & Steven Sedberry; Grandsons, Mason and Cooper Sedberry; Sisters, Debbie Rorex and Bobbie Maraia; several nieces; and a nephew. Her church family at Life Church that she loved and cherished deeply; and last but not least her cat, Oscar, her companion for the last 20 years.

In lieu of flowers she has requested donations be made to the United Way of Big Spring.

Well done good and faithful servant.
