Susan Ann Berg was born February 28, 1959, to Robert and Phyllis Sullivan, the third of five children. She grew up in Alvord, Iowa and graduated from West Lyon High School. On April 15, 1977, she married the love of her life, David. In 1986, the family moved to Vermillion, SD, where she lived until her death on January 28, 2024.

She loved cooking and baking and enjoyed her time working at the HyVee deli and USD food service. She loved to decorate cakes, for occasions of all varieties. Everyone loved her spaghetti and coconut cream pie. For many Christmas seasons her kitchen became a cookie-making factory, and plates piled with assorted cookies were given to neighbors and friends.

Sue also enjoyed watching wrestling (always rooting for Bret “The Hitman” Hart) and often reminisced about her love of KISS as a teenager (Peter Criss was her favorite). She and Dave took opportunities to travel when they could, and Branson was one of her favorite vacations. They had been hoping to travel to Taiwan for the second time in the near future.

She was a longtime member of the Whimp’s bowling club, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, and was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter Amy’s troop. Sue and Dave loved to go camping and fishing on the Mighty Mo’.

Sue is survived by her husband of 47 years, David; her children, Karyn and Bryan Crouse, Ryan Berg and Jane Lu, Amy and Jason Dalrymple; grandchildren Hannora and Sagan; siblings Tom and Kim Sullivan, Ann Sullivan, Deb Metzger, and Darman and Laura Berg.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Jim, Laurie, and John; and parents-in-law Dwaine and Delores Berg.
