LANCASTER — The City of Lancaster will celebrate National Night Out on Thursday with events including a free bicycle giveaway.

The free event is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on The BLVD.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships.

This year’s event will feature a vendor bingo card raffle. Attendees will receive a vendor bingo card to help them explore various vendor booths. By completing a vendor bingo card, participants become eligible to enter a raffle for a chance to win a swag bag filled with exclusive goodies. This interactive activity adds an element of excitement and engagement to the event, encouraging attendees to connect with local vendors and learn more about the community’s offerings, the city said.

The Lancaster Public Safety booth will host a bicycle giveaway. Children can simply stop by the booth for their ticket to enter the bike raffle.

The event will also feature various informational booths, including representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s and Fire departments, the California Highway Patrol, Lancaster’s Public Safety Department and local nonprofit agencies. Attendees can interact with local officials, explore law enforcement vehicles and equipment up close, and gain valuable insights into the community’s safety measures.

“National Night Out is such a fun and easy way to demonstrate that our City stands together against crime,” Mayor R. Rex Parris said. “More than ever, residential safety remains a top priority in Lancaster, and we are

committed to opportunities like this to connect residents directly with law enforcement and the City’s Public Safety team. Let’s come together to celebrate our wonderful City and work together to continue making this a wonderful, safe place to live.”

The inaugural National Night Out, held in August 1984, involved more than 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. Today, it involves some 38 million neighbors across 17,000 communities. California hosts the most National Night Out events with 360 cities.
