In this week’s new release, “Tuesday,” a mother (Julia Louis-dreyfus) and her terminally ill teenage daughter are visited by Death, in the form of a size-shifting, talking macaw.
That kind of macabre magic realism might seem unique, but Death as a character has shown up in lots of movies over the years, dating back at least as far as the silent era with Fritz Lang’s 1921 fantasy romance, “Destiny.”
