TALLMADGE - Cecilia Elmerick, age 84 of Tallmadge passed away on August 9, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and friend, who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and generosity. Cecilia was born on January 11, 1940 in Kucura, Yugoslavia. When she was 5 years old, she came with her mother to the United States on the Queen Mary through Ellis Island to join her father. Her home was initially in East Akron before spending the rest of her life in Tallmadge. She spent 30 years working at Goodyear while also dedicating her life to her family, faith, and community. She was involved in various church activities and community clubs. Cecilia had a passion for gardening and cooking, which she shared with her family and friends. Her garden was a testament to her love of beauty and nature, and her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of her delicious meals. She took great joy in hosting family dinners and holiday gatherings, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She had a special talent for gift-giving, always choosing the perfect present that showed how much she cared.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald; her parents, Eugene and Pauline Farkas; and her son, John. Cecilia is survived by her daughter, Susan (Matthew) Bard of Twinsburg; son, James Elmerick of Akron; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Burke of Cleveland; grandchild­ren, James Jr., Benjamin, Caroline, Kristine, Melissa, Xander, and Hunter; great grandchild­ren, Oliver and Emma; brother, Steve Farkas of Munroe Falls; niece, Stefanie Farkas (Mathew Wright); nephew, Andrew Farkas; and many other nieces and nephews from her husband’s side of the family.

Visitation will be 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge with Rev. Michael Matusz and Rev. Don Serva officiatin­g. The Funeral Mass will be livestream­ed on Our Lady of Victory’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ourladyofv­ictorychur­chtallmadg­e/. Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory or St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
