FAIRLAWN - The family of Ruth P. Anderson, 91, of Fairlawn, OH, with heavy hearts announce her passing on Monday, June 24, 2024.

Ruth was born on October 21, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rainsford A. and Ruth M. Hazelett Brown, brothers Rainsford A. Brown, Jr., Thomas D. Brown and sons Leverett A. III and Leverett J. Anderson.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Leverett A. Anderson, Jr, and children Margery S. (Frank) Frlich, Sandra R. (William) Cole and Thomas R. (Kathleen Murphy) Anderson.

Also survived by grandchild­ren Frank J. (Lauren) LaRose, Jr., Jennifer M. (Michael) Bryson, Sarah A. (Scott) Maciejewsk­i, Kristen D. (Todd Paul) Cole, Lindsey A. (Robert Oleksa) Creed, Thomas L. (Kelly) LaRose, William S. (Alexis) Cole, Hanna L. (Jack Vernier) Anderson, Dustin M. Frlich and Lydia J. (Zack Lafevre) Anderson.

In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchild­ren Jakob A. (Elizabeth Gornall), Joshua T. (Collaine Tupa), Emma R. (Calvin Maitland) Bryson; Brynna A. Kouri and Briley D. Cole; Oliva J. and Samantha R. Creed; Everly M. Cole; Hadley J., Ellison R., Lainey M. LaRose; Preston S., Aleksandra J., Elyse L. Maciejewsk­i; Vincent T., Ashton A., Elliot W. LaRose.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved pets, Pippa and George.

Her childhood travels to Colorado began her life-long love of the Rocky Mountains and led her to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder where she met the love of her life, Lev. They were married on February 26, 1955. While raising their children, Ruth was involved in many community activities such as PTA, Fairlawn City Women’s Club, Fairlawn Garden Club and PEO.

She was employed as a secretary with the Copley-Fairlawn City Schools for over 20 years, where she made many friends.

Ruth enjoyed many hobbies as well. She knitted amazing personaliz­ed Christmas stockings for everyone in her extensive family. She also belonged to several Euchre and bridge clubs, especially the infamous “Eating and Drinking Bridge Club”.

She was an active member of her churches, Westminste­r Presbyteri­an and New Covenant Community Church. Ruth led several committees and was instrument­al in establishi­ng the Leverett A. Anderson, Sr Library at Westminste­r.

Visitation will be SUNDAY, June 30, 2024 from 2-5 PM at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333. Service on MONDAY, July 1, 2024 at 11 AM at New Covenant Community Church, 1587 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44313 with a luncheon immediatel­y following at the church. Graveside Service 2 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ruth Anderson Memorial Mission fund at New Covenant Community Church or your favorite charity in her memory.
