AKRON - Charles “Chuck” M. Hoff, Jr., 84, of Fairlawn, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, June 17. Chuck was born on March 8, 1940, in Carey, Ohio and raised in Findlay, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Jane (nee Stahl) Hoff. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean M. Hoff (nee Wassity); two sisters, Kathy Clement, and Pam Ferrini, both of Fairfield, Ohio; sisterin-law Judy Craver of Akron, Ohio; brother-inlaw Ron DasVarma of Naples, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Jackson High School, Chuck went on to earn a degree in Chemistry from Kent State University. Chuck was employed for 25 years at B.F. Goodrich, where he met Jean in 1975. They were married later that year. Chuck went on to work at Cytek until his retirement.

Chuck and Jean enjoyed hiking the Metropark trails in Northeast Ohio, especially with their beloved dog, Sparky. They also experience­d many memorable trips throughout North America and Europe over the years. Chuck and Jean spent many winter seasons at their vacation home in The Villages, Florida, where Chuck enjoyed playing golf. Chuck was a big fan of trains, and during his retirement he spent many weekends volunteeri­ng for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

A private family viewing will take place at 10:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 AM on SATURDAY, June 22, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 83 Mosser Place Akron, Ohio 44310. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, PO Box 158, Peninsula, OH 44264, or the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Rd. Twinsburg, OH 44087.
