UNIONTOWN - Judy Cox Mace rests in peace after a brave battle with cancer. Her final moments on February 11, 2024, were spent peacefully in her home in Uniontown, Ohio surrounded by family.

She was born in Worthington, Ohio on July 3, 1941. Judy received her elementary education degree at Ohio Wesleyan University and went on to teach hundreds of children. She spent the majority of her 33 years in education, as a kindergarten teacher at Young School in Springfield Township. Teaching by example, Judy had a curiosity and thirst for knowledge, answering our questions with “Let’s look it up” instead of “I don’t know.”

Known for her patience, love of books, and creative teaching style, Judy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. As her first thought was always about others rather than herself, Judy’s family asks she be remembered for the joy she brought in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her loving husband, Don; children, Steve Cox, Julie (Phillip) Thrash, Lisa Edwards, Lynn (David) Mace, Laurie Mace, Don (Kait) Mace; grandchildren, Jessica, Matt, Lindsey, Abby, Zach, Evan, and Connor; and great grandchildren, Marissa, Macey, Jack, and Hayden.

Family and friends will gather at Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, ending with a few words by her pastor. Donations may be made in memory of Judy to Bright Star Books (8893 Langston Ct. Macedonia OH 44056) which focuses on increasing ownership of books for children in need.
