Robert Charles Baugher

AKRON - Rob fought a courageous battle with a lengthy three year illness and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was a pleasant and grateful organ transplant recipient who was well liked by his doctors and medical care teams, and through quick wit and upbeat humor kept them laughing. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jean Baugher; and sister, Susan (Baugher) Howard. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 51 years, Kristy Baugher, who was always at his side and referred to him as the love of her life; children, Robert A. Baugher and Jennifer Baugher; Grandsons, Cody, Trusten and Tyler; two great grandchild­ren, Rowan and Oliver; Brothers, Richard (Jo) Baugher and Thomas Baugher. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r, and an accomplish­ed profession­al engineer. Having worked as Vice President of Engineerin­g and R&D for Steelastic Inc. and Kohler Coating Company, he achieved numerous patents in the rubber and plastics industry. He was well respected in the industry and designed and built innovative cutting edge equipment through his own company RK Design Technologi­es. One of his favorite projects was the developmen­t of an electric car in partnershi­p with Sterling Alderfer, and acclaimed inventor in the Akron area in the early 70’s. Robert was co-founder of Kristy’s K9 Training of Akron. He was former Vice President of the Akron Area Soap Box Derby, a member of the All American Soap Box Derby A Team, and a Scout Master of the Tallmadge area Boy Scouts of America. Robert and his wife had raised competitiv­ely shown Siberian Huskies. He was an avid competitiv­e sailor of Flying Scots and had traveled the world for business. Robert will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues who loved and respected him dearly. Condolence­s for the family can be sent to PO Box 27074, Akron 44319.
