STOW - Betty Stitzel, a beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12 at age ninety-three. Born to Agnes and Henry Reidy, Betty grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, and then met her husband of 72 years Paul Stitzel. Betty and Paul raised their 7 children in Stow, moved to Indianapol­is for Paul’s career then retired in Silver Lake.

Betty cherished her Catholic faith. She and Paul were active members of Holy Family Parish where they were instrument­al in starting the Eucharisti­c Adoration program. In addition to her faith, Betty loved her children and many grandchild­ren. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, infectious laugh and ability to see the positive in every situation.

Betty is proceeded in death her husband Paul, parents Agnes and Henry Reidy, in-laws Paul and Marie Stitzel and daughter-in-law Marylea Stitzel (nee Schick). She is survived by her sons Paul (Debbie), John (Stori), Jim (Vesna), Mark (Gloria), Tom (Stephanie), Ted (Rita) and her daughter Ann (Dave) Harry. Betty is also survived by her twenty-four grandchild­ren and twenty-two great grandchild­ren.

Betty spent her last few years at The Danbury of Hudson where she received amazing care by the loving staff. Thank you Sandrine, Jodie and Marilyn the kindness you showed Betty will never be forgotten. She loved all of you.

Betty would especially want to thank her daughter Ann, who has tirelessly provided her loving care and guidance to both she and Paul in their time of need. The entire Stitzel family is grateful for the time Ann spent advocating and caring for Mom and Dad.

Betty was a living example of how to live a loving and gracious life. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, 12/20 at Dunn Quigley funeral home in Stow from 9:30 - 10:30am. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow.
