Bake your dog a yummy cake!

Ingredient­s: ● 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free) ● 1 teaspoon baking soda ● 1/4 cup vegetable oil or ● unsweetene­d apple sauce ● 1/2 cup peanut butter (make sure ● it does not contain xylitol) ● 1/2 cup mashed bananas ● 1/2 cup pumpkin puree ● (optional, for added flavour) ● 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ● 1 egg ● 1/2 cup water

Optional Frosting:

● 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt ● 1/4 cup peanut butter

Instructio­ns:

Preheat your oven to 175°C Grease an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mix your dry ingredient­s:

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of whole wheat flour and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

Mix your wet ingredient­s:

In a large bowl, beat together 1/4 cup of vegetable oil (or unsweetene­d apple sauce), 1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1/2 cup of mashed bananas, 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree (if using), 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 egg until well combined.

Combine wet and dry ingredient­s:

Gradually add the dry ingredient­s to the wet ingredient­s, mixing well after each addition. Add 1/2 cup of water and mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.

Bake:

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a knife or toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Frosting Instructio­ns:

Mix the Greek yogurt and peanut butter together until smooth. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.

Serving:

Cut the cake into small pieces appropriat­e for your dog's size and serve in moderation as a special treat.

Storage:

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Enjoy watching your dog savour their homemade cake!
