DAVINA MCCALL ‘MIDLIFE LOVE is hard to find’

Presenter Davina Mccall on the return of the dating show, My Mum, Your Dad

-

After its huge success last year, it’s almost time for My Mum, Your Dad – the unique dating show hosted by Davina Mccall – to return to our screens. Dubbed the ‘midlife Love Island’, the reality show was a hit with viewers last year and is to thank for stars Janey Smith and Roger Hawes’ solid relationship. And this year, the reality show promises to bring more heat, with Davina, 56, revealing that they’ve ‘spiced’ things up for series two.

After splitting from her husband Matthew Robertson in 2017, Davina found herself navigating the midlife dating scene – something she says was ‘hard’. But she eventually got another chance at love when she got together with hairdresser Michael Douglas in 2019. And now the star says she wants to help others her age find their matches.

Here, Davina gives us the low-down on the series and reveals how she wants to take the show a step further.

Hi Davina! What was your favourite thing about series one?

It was all incredible but one of the best bits of the first series for me was watching it all back and seeing it unfold, because I only got to see certain clips when we were filming. I am beyond happy that Roger and Janey are still together. How amazing is that?

Are you excited for series two?

I’m so ready for the second series. I love love, but midlife love is next level because it can be more difficult to find. I’m so excited about it coming back!

Is there anything different about the show the second time around?

We’ve spiced it up a little bit. I might be on-hand a little bit more. We’re gonna get lots of experts and things to come on the show, which will be great. Kind of learning new things, teaching them new things. At our age, it’s like trying to teach an old dog new tricks, you know, you’re trying to kind of change. It didn’t work for you before – how can you change for you to get the best chance at winning at love again?

You seem very passionate about helping others get a second shot at love…

I am! I want everyone to be able to find love. I would love to ramp things up and do My Mum, Your Dad singles nights to give more people the chance to meet.

‘We’ve spiced things up a little bit’

That sounds exciting…

I want to supersize it. I feel like people are getting bored of the apps. Some of my friends say they have done entire ones now, and keep getting the same people coming back!
