Cissoko enjoying Home Park vibe
DUTCH winger Ibrahim Cissoko looks set to become a Plymouth Argyle fans’ favourite after impressing in his first two games at Home Park.
Cissoko had an assist when Ryan Hardie was on target in the 3-0 Carabao Cup first round win against Cheltenham Town, and the 21-year-old then scored the first Championship goal of Wayne Rooney’s reign in the 1-1 draw with Hull City on Saturday.
While still early days, the winger clearly has the capability to get fans out of their seats and the loan signing from French Ligue 1 club Toulouse has enjoyed the start to his time at Argyle and is optimistic about the rest of the season.
Cissoko opened the scoring against Hull in the 52nd minute with a fierce shot into the net and he reacted by taking off his shirt and waving it around as he ran towards the fans in the corner between the Devonport End and the Lyndhurst Road Stand.
“I think my celebration speaks for itself,” he said. “I was really happy. It was a great feeling.
“I really like it [at Argyle]. I feel like I’m getting fitter with every day. I really enjoy it, I enjoy the lads, I think we have a really good team and I’m looking forward to the next games.
“I think it will be good if we keep playing like this, if we don’t do crazy things. If we just do what the gaffer [Rooney] wants then I think we can do great things.”
The game against Hull was played in front of a close to capacity crowd at Home Park and Cissoko declared: “I really enjoyed it, great support. I love the fans.”
The feeling seems to be mutual.
