- STUART JAMES stuart.james@reachplc.com

ANEW ground, a new start and a now a new look for National South side Truro City as they gear up for their return to the Duchy.

After two seasons away from their Treyew Road ground, which was sold for development, their new stadium at Langarth is coming along nicely and should be ready in time for the White Tigers to return home in time for the 2024/25 campaign. Only they will no longer be known as the White Tigers anymore with the club deciding to ditch its nickname of the past six years.

As part of a rebranding exercise, Truro will once again be known as the ‘Tinners’ a handsome reference to their Cornish roots and the county’s rich tin mining history, which was their original nickname.

The club have a new crest as well. The new club badge sees Truro cathedral rendered in black on a white background with the flag of St Piran lying immediately below the city’s most prominent landmark.

The white tiger has been ditched altogether while the main aesthetics of the crest are no longer housed within a shield, giving them greater prominence than before.

NEW Plymouth Parkway manager Chris McPhee has thanked the four players that have decided their futures lie away from Bolitho Park.

It was announced yesterday that goalkeeper Adam Parkes, defenders Toby Down and Tom Purrington and striker Reece Thomson have all decided to leave the Southern League Premier Division club for opportunities elsewhere.

However, a core of players have decided to remain with the club including Mikey Williams, Callum Hall, Shane White, Jack Crago, Rio Garside and Callum Rose. Young striker Dylan Jones was already under contract for next season.

“We wholeheartedly thank them for their efforts and commitment during their time at the club,” McPhee said. “We wish them well for next season and beyond. have known about for a long time. He is physically excellent, he has got a fantastic left foot and he can play in a couple of different positions.

“I think it is important to sign players that have been successful in their careers – and he has been. That’s an important quality we are looking for.”

Threlkeld, 30, was a youth player at Bolton Wanderers before having two spells with Argyle and then playing for Salford City, Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and Morecambe.

“Oscar is someone I have known

“We appreciate that there comes a time when a player feels ready to move on and we respect their decision to do so. We would have loved them to stay and be part of the club as it evolves. It wasn’t to be.”

McPhee now has the clarity he needs to add to his squad for the 2024/25 season with the club saying they are working diligently on recruitment ahead of the new season.

WILLAND Rovers have stated their intent for the forthcoming seasons with three significant signings from nearneighbours Tiverton Town.

The Southern League Division One outfit have recruited Jamie Richards, Carlo Garside and River Allen from Ladysmead and manager David Steele could not hide his delight at getting them on board for next season.

“To say I am delighted to welcome Jamie, River and Carlo to the club is an understatement,” he said. “The qualities they bring as individuals will be varied and complement the squad fantastically well.

“Our objective of continuous improvement remains and this is a clear sign of intent in that respect.”

MOUSEHOLE manager Jake Ash has committed his future to the club by signing his first ever contract at Trungle Parc.

The Seagulls fell just short in their maiden season in Division One South, losing 3-0 to Frome Town in the play-off semi-finals, but Ash is confident they can go one better next season.

“Firstly I have to thank the players, without what they’ve achieved this wouldn’t happen,” he said. “Their energy and commitment absolutely energises me and I can’t wait for another year working with them.

“After five amazing seasons, Mousehole has become a massive part of my life. It means so much to me and I want to do everything I can to make it successful for all the brilliant people who make everything possible.”

EXMOUTH Town have confirmed that Dave Pearse will be staying with the club as joint manager, along with Kevin Hill. Andy Rawlings will continue as assistant manager at Southern Road. for years,” said Wotton. “I have got a brilliant relationship with him.

“When I was assistant manager at Plymouth Argyle we got promoted and he was integral in that team.

“He can play in a multitude of positions but I definitely see him playing in central midfield for us.

He has got tremendous experience and tremendous energy and again, he is such a loveable character.”

Wotton says he has known Finley Craske since he was nine or 10 – with the 21-year-old from Wadebridge in Cornwall coming through the Argyle youth system.

Craske finished last season on the treatment table after a series of injuries in his first season – but Wotton was keen to bring him back.

“He played football with my son and I have known Finley for a long time,” said Wotton. “He is a fantastic football player and a great athlete.

“He was unfortunate last season with injuries but I know him and I know how good he can be and I am really glad he is going to be part of the squad next season.”

The signings will not stop there as the rebuild continues with more expected in the coming days.
