Lionessesset forafinal-day showdown
Livingston’s strong end to the season continued with a 3-0 away victory against Stirling University, which has set up a dramatic final day of the season.
Goals from Hannah Davie, Ashley Elizabeth and Natasha Frew saw Livingston record a fourth win in a row.
The Lionesses now need to win against champions Queen’s Park and hope second place Kilmarnock drop points against Boroughmuir Thistle, in the hope they squeeze into second place and into the SWPL 1 playoff spot.
A bright start from the hosts saw Jess Murphy go close with a header from a corner before the deadlock was broken in the 14th minute.
A nice through ball by Elizabeth was met by Davie, who cleverly cut inside before lifting the ball over the Stirling goalkeeper to give the Lionesses the advantage.
Livi grew in confidence following the opener, soon adding to their lead. Elizabeth this time latched onto a through ball, volleying home for her 11th goal of the season and continuing her great run of recent form.
A handball saw a penalty awarded to Livingston, with captain Frew assuming responsibility and firing high to make it 3-0 before half time.
The second half was a comfortable showing for Livingston as they played well and created chances despite not being able to add to their lead.
The result sees Stirling University relegated to the Championship whilst setting up a dramatic final day of the season where Livingston can still finish in the playoffs.
Sunday’s clash with Queen’s Park will be played at Beechwood Park with the men’s team closing out their Premiership campaign at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday.
Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
