You’re coming WITH ME!

Mary takes action when she finds Gus in a bad way

-

Home Farm isn’t the only place with a newborn – Smithy Cottage gets one, too, when Gus and Ivy move in with Rhona, Marlon, Mary, April and Leo.

Gus has been struggling to care for Ivy while he’s grieving for wife Lucy, who died in childbirth. Mary and Rhona called round to his place last week and were shocked by the state he was in, while Rhona – Ivy’s biological mother – couldn’t resist cradling the tot; unable to ignore her maternal pull.

Not wanting Rhona to become too emotionally attached to Ivy, but aware that Gus needs keeping tabs on, Mary insists that she, alone, will check in on the single dad. Gus is clearly faring no better, and Mary’s concerns mount following a conversation with the funeral directors who are arranging Lucy’s send-off.

As she later catches her mum heading out, Rhona’s desperate for an update. Knowing her daughter will head straight over there if she admits the truth, Mary downplays the situation, but she knows drastic action is called for when she then finds Gus at breaking point...

Rhona’s jaw drops as her mum returns home with Gus and Ivy in tow, while Marlon has a face like thunder. He’s been banging on for weeks that his wife needs to draw a line under Ivy’s arrival and carry on like nothing’s happened. Suddenly, things have become very messy. Messy and noisy. No one gets much sleep due to Ivy’s cries, and it makes for a tetchy household the next morning.

Despite the chaos, though, Rhona is clearly in her element. But is she setting herself up for major heartbreak?
