WARDLEY AND WARRINGTON BOWL NANTWICH TO ANOTHER PREMIER WIN

NANTWICH are up to second place in the Cheshire County League Premier Division following their home victory over Neston. The Dabbers made their way to 212 all out in the first half of Saturday’s encounter at Whitehouse Lane.

Skipper Ray Doyle led the way with 49, while Spencer Byatt (34) and Jason Foulkes (26) also played their part for the hosts. L Jones picked up 4-54 with the ball for Neston.

I Gill (40) and Z Rogers (34) made handy starts for Neston in their run chase.

However, there wasn’t another decent effort for the visitors as they were bowled out for 169. Scott Wardley was the hero of the hour for Nantwich, finishing with 5-18.

Veteran paceman Jimmy Warrington added to his wicket haul with 3-22 to seal the points for the Dabbers. HASLINGTON won at Mobberley in Division Two. Haslington were set a revised 193 to win from 47 overs after a rain delay.

Tom Coppenhall made 38 up front, but they slipped to 96-7 as Sohail Butt helped himself to 3-23. Haslington looked like they were facing the prospect of defeat, but Dean Mitford and Joe Goodier teamed up to revive their hopes. Mitford compiled 40 not out and Goodier weighed in with an unbeaten 37 to lead the away side to the points with more than seven overs remaining.

Abdul Aqeel had earlier top-scored

with 81, hitting 11 fours and three sixes, in Mobberley’s 197 all out. Ibrar Latif chipped in with 34, while Freddie Taylor scooped 6-30 and Tom Gledhill claimed 3-60 for Haslington.

CONGLETON were beaten at home by Alvanley in Division Two. Alvanley posted 180-8 on their away date, in which Henry Young (41) and Lee Ainsworth (28) made the biggest impacts.

Sean Cardall and Meet Solanki shared four of the wickets to fall. Solanki fronted Congleton’s chase, striking nine fours mand four sixes in his 84.

Rhys Lewis contribute­d 20, but

Congleton were dismissed for 164.

James Ecclestone captured 3-25 and there were two wickets apiece for Stephen Charles and Chris Charles.
