Sheffield back on winning form
SHEFFIELD put last week’s shock defeat at Ionians well behind them with a seven-try domination of midtable Hull.
In their final home game, the hosts turned on the style with a ruthless twelve-minute second half spell which saw them cross three times.
Taking charge from the outset, flanker Rob Fawdry powered over for an early try. Sheffield’s superiority at the lineout was rewarded midway through the half, when a textbook catch and drive saw Jake Hicklin over for the score.
Now firmly in control, quick ball enabled Matt Adcock to join the line, the flanker showing pace to surge over from 15 metres.
Just before the break, the visitors narrowed the deficit to 17-7 with their first spell of pressure. Full-back Reece Dean converting his own to set a new season points record for the club.
Hull pushed on immediately after the restart, Bureta Faraimo finding a gap to reduce the deficit to just three points with a converted try.
The hosts responded with a well taken Will Smith try, on the crash and never looked back.
Three tries in quick succession from James Flint, Ben Whitney and Chris Hooper rounded off a fine seasons endeavour at the Abbeydale Sports Club.
