Shard is thorn in Billingham’s side
LYMM were able to power past a depleted Billingham side to banish memories of the 25-25 draw the teams shared in December.
Helped by a controlled and mature performance from fly half Thomas Shard, the hosts never looked under any real threat.
The hosts started with real intent as backrower Joshua Hadland crashed over early before winger Patrick Jennings extended the lead and put Lymm in the driver’s seat.
The visitors fought back and were able to score through tireless openside Nathan Myers. Shard continued to expertly manage the game for Lymm and ensured they dominated possession.
Lymm quickly scored their third try through Stephen Pilkington before Billingham winger Joseph Scarborough scored his first for the team on his first start to close out the half.
Shard’s kicking continued to cause Billingham problems in the second half. Harry Martin’s try secured the bonus point for Lymm before Billingham powerhouse Daniel Dixon took one of his own.
With the game secured by Callum Morris’ try, the pace began to drop, but Billingham will be delighted they were able to leave with a point.
