Jack’s the lad to seal it for Hoppers

THE Grasshoppe­rs and Lymm scored 13 tries in a thrilling display of running rugby, with the Hoppers victorious.

Lymm made an early start, with Harry Martin pouncing on a loose ball, before Preston responded immediatel­y with Ciaran O’Donnell powering over.

Following a Thomas Shard penalty, Spence brought the sides level with an expert finish. Two tries in five minutes came next for Lymm, scored by Jack Stride and Callum Morris.

Preston brought in half-time with an outstandin­g try, great runs from the backs from their own line led to Will Hunt completing a kick to Spence who crawled his way ove.

Just one minute into the second 40, and Hoppers scored again through Jake Maher.

Lymm added two quick penalties, beRELEGATE­D fore a bonus-point try from James Kimber stretched their lead.

With 20 minutes to go, Patrick Jennings was shown a yellow, and Hoppers made full use of it, with Ed Keohane scoring their next.

Lymm increased their lead again, with Nathan Beesely scoring. Declan Norrington scored two tries in two minutes to bring the Hoppers within one point, before star man Jack Lightowler flew over to seal the win.
