Sunnybank up to fifth as Reid double sees off Colony’s challenge

A first-half Adam Reid brace against Colony Park at Heathryfol­d saw Sunnybank move up to fifth in the McBookie.com Premier League and manager Paul Leahy was understand­ably pleased to take the three points.

He said: “It was a great three points and a good performanc­e, particular­ly in defence where we were excellent, keeping a clean sheet.

“It was two good finishes from Adam, he’s in a great vein of form just now and he took his goals really well.

“We’re away to East End on Saturday and they’re going well so it’ll be a tough match but we’re looking to get ourselves on a run right now.”

On Friday evening at Ian Mair Park, Hermes led Dyce at the break thanks to strikes from Jack Craig and Gafar Abari.

However, early in the second half a Fergus Alberts double and a Kyle Douglas strike turned the game round, with Alberts completing his hat-trick later in the game.

Culter stay top thanks to efforts from Ryan Smart (two), Cammy Fraser and William Mathers at Stonehaven, while bottom club Stoneywood Parkvale had Liam MacIntosh and Sam Bashua on the scoresheet as they won at Buchanhave­n Hearts who responded through Calum Robertson.

Kyle Gordon (two), Murray Thompson and Jamie McKinnon were on the scoresheet as Rothie Rovers triumphed at Ellon United, who replied through James Bain.

It was honours even between Fraserburg­h United and East End with Lee McAllister’s opener for the visitors cancelled out by Jake West.

A second-half blitz saw Bridge of Don Thistle through to the last four of the North Regional Cup at Nairn St Ninian with Kyle Gauld, Cammy Bowden, Liam Burnett and an own goal doing the damage after a goalless opening period.

Matthew McDonald, Craig Lowden, Matthew Keith and Jake McDonald scored for Maud in the McLeman Cup first round victory at Newmachar United, for whom Steven Young and Ryan Cormack were on the scoresheet.
