City side set strong early pace on Sunday

-

Stanground Cardea Sports are setting a strong early pace in Division One of the Sunday Morning League.

The revamped top flight only has seven competing teams this season and Stanground Cardea are at the top after winning their opening two fixtures.

It finished 9-2 against Orton Wanderers last weekend with goals from Ryley Nicholson-Barfoot (3), Josh Staggs (2), Cam Hibbins (2), Ian King and Kyle Hibbins.

The table-toppers had stuck six past Glinton & Northborough in their opening fixture, but there was a strong response from the beaten team as they strolled to a 7-2 win over Thorpe Wood Rangers in their second outing.

Reigning champions CSKA Emneth opened their account for the season with a 4-1 win over Crowland Town. Perennial winners West Raven are not involved this season.

Peterborough Saints lost 29 of their 32 fixtures last season, but they started the 2024-25 campaign as a Division Two club with a bang, putting eight past Murrow Bell without reply.

Kodi Crickmore and Nazir Yocef both hit hat-tricks with Hatem Ishaq and Liam Ebbles also on the scoresheet.

South Holland United top Division Two after two wins in two matches, on goal difference from Stanground Cardea Sports Development. The latter beat Peterborough Rangers 4-3 with Jae Mead (2), Kaine Baker and Nathan Bedford scoring the goals.
