Is this squad good enough to go up?

Transfer window madness is over for another few months, thank goodness, and Posh now have a 24-man squad with which to attack League One.

Is it good enough to win promotion? Only time will tell and it’s worth noting Posh won three and lost three of their opening six League One fixtures last season before a team with a handful of new signings started to deliver some wonderful football as well as impressive results.

Posh do now appear to have all bases covered following the deadline day arrivals of defender Jadel Katongo and striker Bradley Ihionvien.

Katongo has returned to play as a centre-back, probably on the left side. He is not left-footed, but that didn't stop Ronnie Edwards excelling on the left last season. The loanee has been schooled extensively at City so he should cope with most positions at League One level.

And Ihionvien has been signed to add competition to central striking areas. Posh boss Darren Ferguson has expressed concern over the current form of his forwards

Ihionvien is a punt as he has played very few Football League games, but Posh do have an outstanding record of finding and developing young forwards.

And talking of youth the arrival of a 19 year-old and a 20 year-old on deadline day

now means it's an average age of 21.9 for the Posh squad below which would drop to close to 21.5 if 31 year-old (32 this month) goalkeeper Jed Steer is discounted.
