First game in charge of RCA ‘a good starting point’ for Wears
New Sunderland RCA manager Kane Wears reflected on a hectic first week in charge as his side prepare to visit Northallerton Town on Saturday in the Northern League Division One.
Wears oversaw his first game as RCA manager in midweek as they fell to a narrow defeat at Newcastle Benfield to remain nine points behind Saturday’s opponents.
With new faces in the ranks and his first game under his belt, Wears believes the loss at Sam Smith’s Park provided him with a ‘good starting point’ to his reign. He said: “(It’s been) hectic, as we expected it to be, but we have been leaning upon the club and their knowledge and the stuff that have been here previously.
“We are making sure we are putting in the time and effort to be as prepared as possible by having conversations with the players in the rest and the staff, in terms of behind the scenes. Tonight was a good starting point.”
RCA could hand a debut to left-back Adam Beattie after the former Brandon United captain became one of Wears’ first signings following his appointment.
Wears has taken Hebburn Town goalkeeper Andrew Coulson on a dual registration agreement and has signed midfielder Sam Walton.
There has been one departure from RCA after midfielder Taylor Richardson joined Division One rivals Birtley Town and he could make his debut in Saturday’s trip to Penrith.
Seaham Red Star are looking to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat when they host Newcastle Benfield on Saturday after they emerged empty handed from games against Northallerton Town, Carlisle City and Whitley Bay.
