Steph fills final whisky cask after 18 years at distillery
Glengoyne Distillery celebrated over 18 years of service by production support assistant Steph Mcintyre recently as she filled her final whisky cask.
Starting her journey within Ian Macleod Distillers as Distillery Ambassador in 2006, Steph began her career in whisky by welcoming visitors to Glengoyne Distillery, near Killearn, and guiding tours and tastings at the popular attraction.
She particularly enjoyed welcoming visitors into the warehouses and telling them tales of Glengoyne’s past whilst inhaling the sweet aromas of whisky during maturation.
Steph’s undeniable passion for whisky production saw her embark in the role of production support assistant three years later.
Since then, Steph is said to have been “an invaluable driving force ”behind Glengoyne Distillery’s production operations ,“exemplified through her extensive skillset and experience”.
Distillery manager Robbie Hughes said: “steph is a much-loved team member at the crux of support and decision making and has had a profound impact on Glengoyne Distillery.
“Being the dedicated, hardworking, and forward-thinking person that she is, she has always provided exceptional support to the production team, and in turn, to me. I had no doubt that she would fit right in with the Glengoyne team from the start, she is such a likeable person and a wee powerhouse to boot, particularly in the warehouses where she more than kept up with her male colleagues in all aspects of warehouse operations.
“Her contribution over the years is immense, and it was a pleasure and a privilege to have worked alongside her here at Glengoyne for the last 15 years. A long and happy retirement to you Steph.
“From the souring of casks, to adhering with HMRC regulations, and recording all stock on site, Steph was an asset to Glengoyne Distillery who will be dearly missed on site.”
