Man, 36, is jailed for sex assault on 15-year-old girl
A MAN approached an underage teenager and sexually assaulted her after telling her “I am going to s**g you, meet me under Morrisons”.
The victim was left needing counselling and no longer feels safe.
Osman Mohamed, 36, travelled from his home in Cardiff to Bargoed in Caerphilly.
He had been drinking and appeared intoxicated when he approached the victim, who was just 15 years old.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday heard the defendant hugged the victim and said to her: “I am going to s**g you, meet me under Morrisons”.
He then touched the victim’s bottom over her clothing.
She told Mohamed she was 15 years old and he told her he was also 15.
Sentencing, Recorder Caroline Rees KC said: “(The victim) very quickly assessed you were talking rubbish and you were obviously older.”
The police were called and Mohamed was quickly detained.
The defendant, of Taff Embankment, Grangetown, pleaded not guilty to causing/inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sexual assault, but was found guilty of the charges following a trial.
The court heard he has one previous conviction for driving with excess alcohol.
In her victim personal statement, the victim said even though the offence had taken place several years ago it has continued to affect her.
She said she has sought counselling and no longer feels safe.
Recorder Rees said: “You continue to deny your responsibility for the offences... You have demonstrated no insight or remorse.”
Mohamed was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment.
He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, sex offender notification requirements and a restraining order, each to run for 10 years.
