Rail celebration for rhyming Scotsman
PEOPLE have the opportunity to dine on board a luxury train in celebration of a poet.
Guests will tuck into a meal during the Burns Night experience while their carriage is steamhauled between Heywood, Ramsbottom and Bury on the East Lancashire Railway trip which lasts just under three hours.
Burns Night is a celebration of the life and poetry of the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Burns suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, 25 January.
To ensure traditional celebrations can take place, a live pipe band will welcome guests onto the train.
The luxurious pullmanstyle carriage is adorned with polished panelling and crisp linen, setting the tone for the evening.
Guests will arrive at 6.45pm and will be treated to a glass of prosecco before sitting down for a four course, silver served meal, followed by coffee and after dinner chocolate.
A personal waiter or waitress will ensure that the evening is taken care of and the service will arrive back in Bury Bolton station at approximately 10.15pm on January 26 and 27.
Mike Kelly, chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said: “Come and enjoy the Burns Night unique dining experience which always has a great atmosphere as people raise a glass to Rabbie Burns.
“Guests love to eat, chat and laugh the night away, whether it’s a quiet evening with a loved one or a group of friends celebrating.”
Tickets are £79 per person and can be purchased HERE. When booking, there is the option to enter any dietary requirements, and further restrictions can be emailed to dwd@ eastlancsrailway.co.uk.
