In-form Aussie stands in way of Portsmouth’s bid for another win

Portsmouth face a tough trip to Rowledge tomorrow as they look to remain top of the Southern Premier League’s second tier.

A seventh win in eighth matches last Saturday - by one wicket against rock bottom Calmore - came on the same afternoon that previous leaders Sarisbury lost at home to Waterloovi­lle.

Rowledge have won four matches in a row, the latest a Justin Felsch inspired 72-run win at second from bottom Andover.

Wales Premier Grade club Bankstown ripped out Andover's entire top order to finish with 5-40 as the struggling Lions were bowled out for 75.

Zac Leroux's 46 held the Rowledge batting together after the visitors were bowled out for 147.

There is also an intriguing away trip for Division 2 leaders Hambledon tomorrow.

The Dons are the only side across the four divisions of the SPL to have won all their completed fixtures so far.

Their bid for an eighth straight win takes them to third-placed Langley Manor.

Second-placed Portsmouth & Southsea aim for a sixth win in a row against third-bottom St Cross 2nds.

In Division 3, there are tough trips for the two clubs occupying the two relegation places.

Rock bottom Havant 3rds go to second-placed Parley while Fareham & Crofton visit third-placed Trojans.

In the Premier Division, Havant - who slipped to the foot of the top flight table for the first time in the SPL’S 55-year history last weekend - host Lymington.

Mo Abbas leapt to the top of the Premier runscorers list last weekend, his unbeaten 97 for Lymo in their win against Burridge taking his tally to 370.

Gosport’s Ollie Lunt is the leading scorer across the entire SPL, with 500, while Sway’s Jon Grasham is the top wicket-taker with 20 – one more than Parley’s Marcus Braggingto­n.
