New general manager for Horndean care home

Staff and residents at Bere Grove care home, in Horndean, have welcomed a new general manager.

Diana Okeme, who has worked in adult social care since 2006, is a registered nurse passionate about promoting quality care and empowering her team.

Diana has managed care homes and retirement village since 2016 and she is returning to Barchester Healthcare after working in New Zealand.

Bere Grove is one of over 200 care homes owned by Barchester Healthcare that offers high quality care to its local communitie­s. The home regularly holds events and activities for its residents and surroundin­g neighbours.

Diana said: “I am delighted to join the team here at Bere Grove and I am enjoying meeting and getting to know our residents, their family and the staff.

"I’m looking forward to managing this stunning home and continuing to provide high quality care.”

Barbara Ozga, the Regional Operations Director for Barchester, added: “We are committed to providing high quality care and I really think Diana will be a big hit with our residents.”

Bere Grove provides residentia­l, dementia and respite care for 60 residents from respite care to long term stays.

*Staff and residents from Florence Court care home, in Fareham, joined others from over 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK in a Big Quiz of the Year social event.

Julia Rowcliffe, a Florence Court resident, said: “It was wonderful to see everyone in all the other homes joining in. It is amazing how competitiv­e everyone gets!”
