Mountain looks set to peak on the all-weather

-

Smoky Mountain can take a starring role as Wolverhampton hosts the first of a trial run of Sunday evening allweather fixtures.

Charlie Fellowes’ charge lines up in the Bet £10 Get £40 At BetMGM Handicap and there is a good chance he will be taking home the near £14,000 first prize.

The four-year-old has seen only limited action so far, finishing fourth and second twice in three starts at the beginning of 2023 before a summer break seemed to help his cause as he returned in style over the same seven furlongs he faces here in December.

A cosy four-length winner, Smoky Mountain was well supported to follow up just before Christmas, but he conceded costly ground when ducking out at the start and while he did well to eventually finish second, he fell a head short at the line.

A 1lb rise is probably fair as he looked a likely winner were it not for his tardy beginning and he is one to be with here.

Savvy Brilliance is on a hat-trick in the BetUK. It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap.

He has found his niche upped to middle distances, winning over a mile and a half on his penultimate run before winning over a mile and six furlongs at Southwell in December.

Hiked 9lb for a fiveand-a-half-length verdict, Savvy Brilliance still appeared to have plenty in the locker and Sean Woods’ decision to inch up again to an extended two miles looks sound.

Ville Natale showed promise in finishing third on her racecourse bow last month, with the Boost Your Acca With BetMGM Fillies’ Novice Stakes looking an ideal chance to get off the mark.

She did well to place over a mile at the first attempt and a distance just short of 10 furlongs here looks a positive.

Staying is the name of the game in the Betgoodwin Sussex National Handicap Chase and Sporting Ace boasts fine credentials for Neil King.
