Baby Bank in need of new home Charityoutgrowspremises

- ALASTAIR MCNEILL

A Perth children’s charity which supports vulnerable families across the region is searching for a new home due to the rising demand for its services.

Buttons and Bows Baby Bank supports families in the city struggling with the cost-of-living crisis by providing vital items for babies and children for families .

The baby bank, founded by Caroline and Alan Moore, was set up three years ago and has grown year-on-year.

It is supported by individuals, businesses, trusts, community service groups and PKC, who have all provided funding to enable the team of volunteers to supply essentials such as clothes, toys and equipment.

Everyone involved with the Market Street facility gives their time for free, but with demands on services growing, the charity is on the lookout for a new home.

Founder Caroline Moore said : “Although no-one is celebrating the existence of the need for our services, we are now planning the future of the baby bank to enable us to meet the increasing demand for provision of goods.

“With that in mind, we are actively looking for new premises – ideally somewhere with a sizeable retail unit or shopfront in the centre of Perth.

“If you or someone you know has a suitable building to let, please get in touch by emailing info@ perthbabybank.org.”

The charity is also appealing for volunteers while searching for a new volunteer co-ordinator.

Caroline Moore added: “We need people with or without past experience, who enjoy helping young families, and who can give two or three hours a week to help sort donations to make them ready for distribution.

“We also have a need to recruit more trustees to our board so would welcome a chat with people who are willing to take on that role, especially those from a finance, legal or business background.”
