Chloe is ready for racetrack again

-

Perth’s Chloe Grant said she gained vital confidence in her car despite a disappointing result at round two of the 2024 GB4 Championship.

The 18-year-old was on track to secure fourth and seventth place finishes at Silverstone GP recently.

Chloe finished P7 in race one and, unfortunately, was forced to retire on the second last lap of race two.

Setting her fastest time of 2:18.631 in a damp qualifying, Chloe started P8 for race one, P7 for race two, and P5 in race three’s grid reversal.

However, the GB4 Championship only saw two out of three scheduled races across the weekend, with Sunday morning’s 11:06 race cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

For race one, the 18-year-old got off the line, narrowly missing a stalled car in the position in front of her, and slipped into sixth place for turn one. Despite having no second gear for the entire race, Chloe challenged the tail of her teammate, Harry Burgoyne, until Marcus Luzio caught up with her on the Wellington Straight.

The race was going well for the Perth teen until the second last lap saw contact between Chloe and Palmowski, which sent Chloe off the track and having to retire from the remainder of the race – this incident earned a humorous “we need to take a visit to Specsavers to judge”from the commentators’box.

An alternative ending would have seen Chloe secure a technical fourth place finish.

Chloe reflected on the tumultuous weekend saying, “We have taken a massive step forward again this weekend in terms of pace and confidence in the car.

“It was unfortunate we didn’t get the result we wanted, but the pace is even better now and we know what we are capable of for Donington.”

Round three takes place on May 25 and 26 when the championship visits Donington Park GP.
