Luncarty in fine fettle ahead of return to action

- ROBBIE CHALMERS

Luncarty captain Danny Dobie revealed that the squad has been in a“very positive mood”as they prepare to play their first competitive game in three weeks.

Postponements to their last two league fixtures robbed them of their chance to continue some momentum following a resounding 5-1 win over Penicuik Athletic in the third round of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup ,where striker Rhys Davies bagged a hat-trick.

That fixture on November 25 was their last run-out, but Dobie revealed his team-mates are still fired up ahead of a home league clash with Dundonald Bluebells.

“Leading up to and including the Penicuik game, we were confident going into it and that came out in the performance,”said the captain.

“We’ve had a change in management, and the players have stuck together, put their all into every session, taking on board all the little changes that have been made.

“We’d have liked the games to have been on to get some momentum, especially on the back of a convincing cup win.”

He added:“it’ll be a very tough game this weekend, we know Dundonald are a good side, but we are confident of going into any game at the moment and getting a result. The management team have drilled it into us that nothing but maximum effort is required in training and in games, and the results will come with that hard work. It would be great to get some more points on the board before Christmas.”

Luncarty currently reside in 15th in the East of Scotland Premier Division table, with fellow Perthshire side Kinnoull bottom (16th). Kinnoull lost 5-0 away at Haddington Athletic last weekend and will be searching for their second win of the league campaign at home to Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts tomorrow.
