FELLOWSHIP OF CHURCHES

On Wednesday, March 27 at 7.30 pm at Kilmarnock’s Odeon cinema there will be a special screening of a Christian film, ‘Against the Tide’. Tickets cost £8 - half the normal price.

On March 28, there will be two Maundy Thursday services, to which all are invited.

At 6 pm there will be a Stripping of the Altar service at Holy Trinity Church. This will be followed by a Maundy Thursday service at Kay Park Church at 7.30 pm.

The Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches’ Good Friday Walk of Witness takes place again this year on Friday, March 29. Please note a change of time to ensure we finish at The Cross just prior to the Good Friday Vigil, 12 noon at New Laigh Kirk. Gather from 10.30am outside the Salvation Army in Sturrock Street, as we aim to begin the Walk of Witness at 10.45am sharp.

There will be an Easter trail for children on Saturday, March 30 from 1 to 4 pm. Each of the town centre churches will offer craft activities to help children understand the Easter story. At the end of the trail children will receive an Easter gift bag. Maps for the trail may be collected at St Marnock’s Church, Winton Place Church, Holy Trinity Church, Central Evangelica­l Church, New Laigh Kirk, Kay Park Church and the Salvation Army.

A 24/7 prayer room will be set up in the The Howard Centre throughout the first week of the school Easter holidays: Monday 1 to Sunday, April 7.

Kay Park Church guild will host a concert by the rev Jill Clancy’s award winning choir, Songs for All, on April 12 at 7pm. Tickets cost £5. To book places contact Jean Herbert at 0751193948­5 or jean_herb@outlook.com.

DARVEL PARISH CHURCH

The service on Sunday will be conducted by the rev Dr Samuel Lamarti and will celebrate holy communion. The retiral offering at this service will go to the Blind Club, Kilmarnock.

Pastoral lunches are held in the new hall on the third Thursday of each month.

Our final guild meeting of this session will be Tuesday, March 26 when our entertainm­ent will be by Sheila and Tom Adams. Meetings are in the new hall at 2pm.

The next Pastoral Lunch will be Thursday, March 21 in the new hall at 12pm.

PALS young people drama group meet on Fridays in the new hall at 3.30pm. All primary school age children are welcome.

On Thursday, March 28 we will celebrate holy communion in the church at 6.30pm followed by a passover meal.

On Friday, March 29 we will meet in the square at 10am to remember the events of Good Friday then move with the cross into the church for readings and prayers. This will be followed by tea/coffee and hot cross buns in the small hall.

On Friday, March 29 a Good Friday service will take place in the church at 6.30pm.

FENWICK CHURCH

The service on Sunday is at 10.30am and will be conducted by rev Kim Watt. The service will be live streamed on the church YouTube channel and published on the website and Facebook page.

The warm welcome cafe will be held in the Paton Room, within the church halls on Tuesday, from 12pm to 4pm. Soup, tea, biscuits and games are available and all are welcome.

There is a holy communion service at Hallhouse on Wednesday, March 13 at 11am.

GALSTON PARISH CHURCH

The service this Sunday takes place in the Hogg Hall, hosted by very rev Dr David Lacy.

There will be a short kirk session meeting immediatel­y after the morning service.

Please join us for tea, coffee and a time of fellowship following the morning service.

We will be collecting Foodbank donations this Sunday for EACHa and The Salvation Army, all contributi­ons gratefully received. Please drop off any donations at the Hogg Hall.

HURLFORD CHURCH

Worship on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by rev Willie Hall. At the close of worship, you are invited to the hall for tea and coffee and a time of fellowship.

Enjoy a cuppa and a blether on a Monday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the church hall.

The thrift shop organised by the guild is open to Friday, March 15.

Opening times are Monday to Friday 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm.

Donations to the Ayrshire (East) Foodbank are always welcome and can be placed in the box in the vestibule of the church.

The fortnightl­y meeting of the guild is on Tuesday, March 19 at 2pm in the small hall. The theme is ‘An Afternoon Oorsels’.

On Wednesday, March 20 a time of prayer is in the lounge at 7pm.

KAY PARK PARISH CHURCH

Church continues to be open for Sunday morning worship at 11am with tea or coffee in the hall after worship.

There is a creche and young church facilities in the side chapel.

If you have children with you, please use this room as and when you need to.

We will have an Ash Wednesday Service at 7pm on Wednesday, March 13 and 20. Faith stories returns to the church cafe area for three weeks meeting at 7pm.

Wednesday Walkers meet at the Kay Park at 10am at the top car park near the Burns Centre, enjoy a walk round the park and a good chat and then have coffee and tea in the church café.

The guild concert takes place on Friday, April12 at 7pm with Songs for All – Jill Clancy. Tickets are £5 available from guild members.

KILMARNOCK BAPTIST CHURCH

Tonight our monthly autism cafe meets at 7.30pm downstairs in the church hall. On Thursday our renew KBC wellbeing cafe and warm welcome space is open downstairs from 10.30am to 2pm. The cafe is a quiet space where it’s okay not to be okay and a community space for sharing a variety of hobbies and activities, which are all free.

On Sunday between 10am and 10.30am, anyone is welcome to gather and pray for the service in the office at KBC. Our Sunday worship starts at 11am with our pastor David Hannah bringing God’s message.

The service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel. Just before the sermon, there is an option for children to go to kids/ youth church.

Communion will take place at the end of the morning service with tea and coffee being served afterwards.

NEW LAIGH KIRK

Worship on Sunday will be conducted by the minister, beginning at 11am.

Talent/Experience Auction takes place on Saturday, March 23 at 10.30am.

Please have a good study of pledges on offer in the catalogue. Early-bird bidding can continue up to 12pm on March 22 and please remember to state your Lot number. Please refer to the catalogue for email details. All details are also on our website and Facebook.

For packages like golf, wine tasting, some afternoon teas and so forth, we suggest you arrange this in advance and put in an early bid or one of your group bids on the day. The auctioneer will be aware of the highest early-bird lot bids and will start the bidding at that figure.

There are quite a few physical items which can be viewed from 9.30am on the day.

If you have pledged an item which requires a voucher we would appreciate this by March 17. Please hand this to Margaret Patterson or Derek I’Anson.

Easter day breakfast communion in the Kirk Yard is at 8.30am. In order to cater for breakfast, please indicate to Jan Lamberton/ Derek I’Anson your intention to join us on Easter Sunday

A lent study course will be held in the church at 7pm on Wednesdays from until March 20.

After the school Easter holidays, New Laigh Kirk will be running a new tots group on Tuesday afternoons. More details about our group are to follow but for now, we are asking for donations of toys for our group. Toys must be brand new, (please no broken or unclean toys) and toddler-age appropriat­e. Any donations can be given to Amy Tanner or placed on the stage in the halls with a notice of donation. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Tanner.

ST COLUMBA’S

The service at 11am on Sunday will be taken by the very rev William Hewitt. The Bible study and prayer group meet on Monday at 1.30 pm.

The last meeting of the guild for this session is on Tuesday, March 19 at 2pm when we will have the AGM followed by afternoon tea.

We will be running a table top sale in the café area of the Howard Centre throughout this week.

This is part of our fundraisin­g programme for our upcoming visit from Abaana Children’s Choir from Uganda.

The Well community cafe, serving delicious low-cost home baking and freshly cooked lunches, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to1.30pm.

The 12th Kilmarnock BBs company section meets on Fridays from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Takeaway lunches are provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11.30am to 1pm.

On Monday, March 4 we were delighted to host George Lind, who gave a splendid illustrate­d talk about his visit to Austria and the Oberammerg­au play in 2022. Oberammerg­au. President Mai Lawrence thanked George for his illuminati­ng talk and tea was provided by Myra Seton and Catherine McInnes.
