Community facility planned for former fire-struck nightclub
ALSO PLANS FOR VENUE WITH ROOF TERRACE
A FORMER Hull cinema and nightclub that went up in flames last year could be turned into a community facility.
A planning application has been submitted to turn the former Premiere Bar at 419-421 Anlaby Road, into a mixed use community facility.
There would be a variety of meeting and function rooms and event space. The plans include a new internal winter garden, too.
Live music performances, indoor sports and exercise classes, social classes, the sale of retail goods and food are posited as possible uses.
Here is more about the scheme, at the former West Park Palace site, and recent planning applications, including a Mcdonald’s drive-thru.
Anlaby Road community facility
Giroscope is the applicant. A planning document states: “For over 30 years Giroscope has been tackling vacant and underused properties in its neighbourhood to create secure homes, affordable workspace and employment. The West Park Palace fits into this strategy,” it says.
There would be a new roof terrace with views of West Park, as part of the proposals. The main concept is the internal winter garden at its heart, and then enterprise zones for small businesses around it.
The building’s last use was in 2007. It went up in flames last year, sustaining significant damage. The former cinema’s main facade was fortunately saved.
Golf centre plans
One Stop Golf have filed an application to add new elements to the golf centre in Newland Avenue.
A new single-storey building is proposed. It would have two separate commercial elements. One part would be for physiotherapy, the other for sports fitness, with a 50m rehabilitation running track planned.
Mcdonald’s new drive-thru
A new Mcdonald’s drive-thru restaurant is planned in a part of Hull it has not got any restaurants, so says the application. As previously reported by Hull Live, Mcdonald’s want to create a drive-thru restaurant in Sutton Fields.
It would be located in Oslo Road. It would be built after the demolition of an existing bingo hall, used by Buzz Bingo. The economic benefits are highlighted by Lichfields in several planning documents,
including suggestions over 100 fulltime equivalent construction jobs would be created.
“The proposed development will provide a range of economic opportunities, creating around 70 full-time equivalent jobs on-site.
The development will also attract additional expenditure and provide greater consumer choice within this area of Hull.”
Elsewhere, Five Guys has reached another stage in its quest to create a store at Kingswood. It has applied for permission for advertising signs.
