MARTIN EXTENDS HIS TIME AT THE MKM
LEWIS Martin believes Hull FC’S young players are perfectly poised to “keep improving and developing” at the club.
The electric winger, who has burst onto the first-team scene this year, has committed his future to the Black and Whites, signing a new two-year deal.
Locked in until at least the end of the 2026 season, Martin joins the likes of Davy Litten, Harvey Barron, Matty Laidlaw, Zach Jebson, and Logan Moy in extending his stay at Hull, with the club keen to produce genuine firstgrade quality players through their own development system.
Martin, meanwhile, is a former Hull City Academy player who swapped football for rugby league as a teenager and hasn’t looked back.
He is a graduate of the West Hull system and soon made an impact playing for the club’s academy and reserves sides.
The 19-year-old was rewarded with a Super League debut at St Helens in the final round last year and has continued that emergence with a further 11 appearances to his name this season.
He scored on his first outing and has added three more tries this year, with the teenager, who prides himself on speed and evasion, now gunning to kick on at the club.
Speaking on his new deal, Martin said: “I’m buzzing to commit my future to my hometown club for another two years. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given since making my debut last year, and I’m determined to keep improving and doing my part for this team.
“It’s a really exciting period to be a young player at this club.
“With the likes of Logan (Moy) and Davy (Litten) also committing their future here, we’ve got a core of local lads with their best years ahead of them who are going to keep improving and developing over the next few years.”
Showing plenty of promise in the Black and White this year, Richie Myler is backing Martin to become one of Hull’s ‘exciting talents’ for years to come.
The club Director of Rugby added: “Since stepping up to the first-team environment 18 months ago, Lewis has shown some real professionalism and determination to keep developing and achieving his personal goals.
“Just like with Logan and Davy, Lewis knows he isn’t the finished article yet and that there’s still plenty of years of development ahead, but he’s shown some superb early signs, and we believe he’s going to be one of our exciting talents for years to come.”
