Chalford hit 11 to move point clear in title race

CHALFORD’S 11-2 win over bottom side Berkeley Town on Saturday put them a point clear in the Northern Senior League Division One title race.

Ben Minnican hit a hat-trick for the defending champions, with two each for Jon Davis and George Parker, Will Bennyworth, Ryan Harry, James Keylock and Fred Wilson with the others.

They have two games left, as do second-placed Tredworth Tigers, who beat Engliash Bicknor 8-3, thanks to doubles for Lee Smith, Tyler Hill and Dave Rich, Nick Hill and Corey Warrington completing the win.

Two points off Chalford, in third, at Brockworth Albion, who won 3-1 at Charfield on Tuesday thanks to Ash Bird’s hat-trick, Archie Bennett replying but Albion have one game left, against Lydney Town Reserves on Saturday.

Longlevens Reserves are fourth, six points off Chalford but have four games left, while fifth-placed Dursley Town’s hopes are over after Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Lydney Town Reserves, Ben Dolbear and Harrison Reeves scoring.

Bibury will finish sixth after Jay Griffiths and Luke Fields gave them a 2-0 win at Bredon.

Stonehouse Town Reserves will definitely finish in the bottom three after losing 6-1 at Charfield, Matthew Goodfield with their goal, while Theo Wharin hit a hat-trick for Charfield, Bennett scoring twice and Gareth Pedley with the other.

Jordan Mitchell scored four times as Whaddon United clinched the Division Two title with a 6-1 win at relegated Leonard Stanley, Ryan Vincent and Kevin Slack with the other goals.

Whaddon also won 8-0 at Chesterton on Tuesday, Lawrence Gorry hitting a hat-trick.

Barny Jones scored twice as Rodborough Old Boys beat Mushet & Coalway 5-1, Marshall Stokes, Jamie Walker and Max Gomer with the others, Brenton Screen replying.

George Botchett’s goal means Barnwood United must win their last two games to pip Staunton & Corse for promotion after they won 1-0 at Lydbrook Athletic, whose slim hopes are over.

Harrow Hill scored through Oliver Cook, Jack Dalby and Darren Weyman to beat Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves 3-2, Riley Greenwood and Mikolaj Rewczuk replying.

On Tuesday night, Lydbrook won 1-0 at Harrow Hill.
