Join our tailor-made tour exploring the beautiful gardens of Kent and Sussex while indulging in the comfort of the four-star East Sussex National Hotel.
◼ DAY 1 Arrive independently at the East Sussex National Hotel from 3pm. Enjoy an evening welcome drink and talk from David Hurrion, followed by three-course dinner with two glasses of wine.
◼ DAY 2 The day starts with a guided tour of
Borde Hill followed by
a light lunch. Originally planted by Colonel Robert Stephenson Clarke, the garden rooms at Borde Hill includes Jay Robin’s Rose Garden, Italian Garden, Paradise Walk and Garden of Allah. After lunch, we head to Wakehurst, the 500-acre Sussex outpost of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, home to the Millennium Seed Bank. Dinner at the hotel.
◼ DAY 3 The morning is spent at Sissinghurst Castle Garden, which was created by Vita
Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson, with highlights including the White Garden. Free time for lunch (not included) before moving on to Great Dixter House & Gardens, the home of gardener, gardening writer and TV presenter Christopher Lloyd OBE. We visit
Hole Park Gardens, designed by Christopher Lloyd, for a guided tour and light refreshments. Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 4 The last day begins at
Pashley Manor Gardens for a guided tour of its 11 acres, which is in the style of a classic English Country Garden – herbaceous borders, immaculate lawns, rose walk, walled and kitchen garden, box hedges – with a grade I-listed house as its background. The last visit is to Hever Castle & Gardens, childhood home to Anne Boleyn, mother of Queen Elizabeth I. The double-moated 14th-century castle and its gardens are set in 125 acres of grounds. Return to the hotel.
