‘We’d love to have Idah back’

-

LIAM Scales revealed Celtic’s dressing room “would love” to see Adam Idah return to Parkhead on a permanent move.

The Republic of Ireland striker concluded a successful loan period at the Parkhead club last season with a dramatic late winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden.

The 23-year-old’s nine goals in 19 matches in the second half of the campaign also helped Brendan Rodgers’ side to another cinch Premiership title.

Reports claim Norwich have rejected a bid from Celtic to sign Idah, who has four years left on his contract, but fellow Republic of Ireland international Scales hopes something can be worked out, albeit accepting it is out of his hands.

The 25-year-old defender said: “We would love to have him back.

“He’s a great lad. He’s obviously a brilliant player but to have him in the changing room as well, he’s a good guy, he’s brilliant, he’s funny, everyone got on well with him and we would all love to see him back.

“He was massive for us, he scored massive goals and put in massive performances and we would all love him back. It is obviously out of our control but hopefully it happens.”

Idah often played second fiddle to Japan striker Kyogo Furuhashi but Scales underlined the options both players offer Celtic.

The former Shamrock Rovers player said: “Adam has more physicality. Kyogo is better playing off people’s shoulders and he has obviously scored loads of goals doing that but Adam gives you the option where you can hit his feet and he is going to hold off the big defenders that he is playing against.”
