Road blocked and woman injured after car hits shop
THE BUSY STREET WAS BLOCKED AFTER A CAR CRASHED INTO TOWN CENTRE SHOPS
A BUSY street in a Derbyshire town was blocked after a car crashed into a building earlier this week.
Police were called to St John Street in Ashbourne to reports of a collision at around 11.50am on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, crews found a car which had crashed into a building on the street, leaving the road blocked.
Only one vehicle, a Peugeot 108, was involved in the collision.
The driver, a woman in her 70s, has since been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not believed to be serious. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were also on the scene to ensure the safety of the building.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire police’s Ashbourne, Brailsford and Carsington Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Emergency services yesterday responded promptly to a minor car crash involving a small vehicle that collided with local shops in the town centre.
“Fortunately, everyone involved is safe. The road was temporarily blocked but was quickly reopened. Our thanks go to all the emergency services for their swift response. Please remember to drive safely.”
