Great British Food Festival heads for county landmark

A FOOD festival branding itself as “the UK’s favourite foodie day out” is coming to a Derbyshire landmark to bring half-term to an end.

The Great British Food Festival, an award-winning touring event, will arrive at Hardwick Hall with an array of activities, food and drink and stalls next weekend.

Among the attraction­s set to take place from Friday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm each day, will be chef demonstrat­ions, live music and men (or women) v food, with the latter offering adults the chance to put their eating abilities to the test.

More than 50 artisan stalls have been announced for the event.

A spokespers­on for the food festival said: “We will have a wonderful array of produce on offer at Hardwick Hall, from local and national producers. From Chocolate to Chutney and Cheese to Chilli

Sauces there will be something to delight your tastebuds.

“A fabulous mix of national and regional producers bringing homemade products to you, which you won’t find in the supermarke­ts.

“Our artisan markets are a great place to find something special and a great place to find a lovely gift, or just treat yourself.”

Children can enjoy circus skills, a treasure hunt and wacky races events. There will also be a free mini zoo with a range of animals such as hedgehogs and meerkats, and even spiders and snakes for those with nerves of steel.

Tickets vary in price depending on times. Adults entering before 10am on each day can get in for £15, with children £7.50. This drops after 2pm when adults can enter for £10, with children still at £7.50. Children can enter for free after 2pm on Friday.
