Rovers bow out of the FA Cup

-

EYNESBURY Rovers adventures in the FA Cup came to end after a 3-2 replay defeat at FA VAse holders Romford.

Despite their best endeavours they were undone by hat-trick by Sherman Artmeladze, who had netted twice in the match at Hall Road.

After pulling a goal back in the 90th minute Rovers created two chances in stoppage but could not find an equaliser.

They made four changes from last Saturday with Ryan Hunter replacing Reece Lewis in goal to make his debut; Josh HowardDobson replaced Dan Hammer; Richard Chadwick came in for Jonny Hall whilst Billy Roberts replaced Declan Rogers.

Hunter made his first save in the 7th minute keeping out Promise Ogbebor’s low drive with his feet. Artmeladze and Toheeb Elegushi both threatened for Romford before they took a 20th minute lead.

Ogbebor ran down the left flank and found Artmeladze who fired home into the far corner.

Eynesbury had chances but Michael King shot over from 30 yards and Victor Osobu has two shots saved by Dervishaj.

Romford doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute when Artmeladze latched onto a through ball and slotted it past Hunter.

However, on the stroke of half time Michael King scored his first goal for the club with a long range free kick that caught the goalkeeper unawares.

The hosts continued to threaten after the break but in the 62nd minute they were reduced to ten men when Sam Elwood kicked an Eynesbury player in an of the ball incident.

However, Eynesbury failed to capitalise and Romford increased their lead in the 67th minute when a long pass by Elegushi picked out Artmeladze through the centre who rounded the keeper before slotting home.

In the 90th minute, Oliver Brookes scored his first goal for Eynesbury prodding home from close range to make it 3-2.

In the third minute of stoppage time Osobu whipped a lovely ball in from the left but Fraelias Mienambolo could only divert it wide with the goal at his mercy.
