Anmaat all set to make a winning return

-

OWEN Burrows’ Anmaat can come back with a bang in the Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock today.

The six-year-old’s career has been interrupted by injury, but at his best he is clearly a highly talented horse, winning this race in 2022 before taking the Prix Dollar at Longchamp later that year.

An absence followed, but he returned to finish second behind Derby winner Adayar in the Gordon Richards Stakes in 2023 and then struck at Group One level to win the Prix d’Ispahan at ParisLongchamp.

That run was the last time he has been seen on a racecourse, but he has been able to overcome a long layoff before and Burrows seems able to bring horses back into action in great form.

Elsewhere on the card Ralph Beckett’s Indelible sets a good standard in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Dick Hern Stakes given her efforts at Royal Ascot and in the Coral Distaff at Sandown.

At Newmarket Lake Victoria can make a successful transition to Group level in the JenningsBet Sweet Solera Stakes.

Aidan O’Brien’s Frankel filly is out of the Commonwealth Cup winner Quiet Reflection and began to do her pedigree justice when taking a Curragh maiden previously won by the likes of Ylang Ylang and Never Ending Story.

That success was by a head from Ger Lyons’ Red Letter, who subsequently won another Curragh maiden by over four lengths to boost the form.

The Shergar Cup is taking place at Ascot, where Rod Milman’s star filly Adaay In

Devon is fancied to come to the fore in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash.

Never out of the money in seven starts this term, the three-year-old has taken two Listed races this year and was last seen narrowly missing out when second in the Group Three Summer Stakes at York.

She can evidently be relied upon to pull something out of the bag and now returning to five furlongs at a track she has experienced before she is one to keep a close eye on.

Alan King’s Insanity did not really take to hurdles in two outings but he resumed on the Flat in great heart.

He should be bang on the premises in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge.

A winner at Windsor in April, he was just touched off in a valuable race over the course and distance he faces here last month. He has the excellent Australianbased UK jockey Rachel King in the saddle.

In Ireland there is a good card at the Curragh, with the Group One Keeneland Phoenix Stakes headlining the fixture.

Aidan O’Brien’s Whistlejacket should take all the beating, an incredibly well-bred son of No Nay Never who is a brother to the 2022 winner of the race in Little Big Bear.

In the FBD Hotels And Resorts Heritage Hotel Phoenix Sprint Stakes there is an interesting link up between James Tate and Ryan Moore, who is due to ride Electric Storm in the Group Three contest.

Last time out in the Prix de Ris-Orangis she was beaten only a short neck by a good yardstick in Shouldvebeenaring, a run that makes her a challenger in this company.
