- By NIAMH DANN niamh.dann@reachplc.com @DannNiamh

ON National Pizza Day, we asked readers on sister website Cambridgeshire Live which pizza restaurant they think is the best in Cambridge. The winner has now been decided, and they received a hefty amount of the votes.

With 263 votes in total, the winner pulled in a total of 110 after we listed ten restaurants that we think do the best pizzas for our readers to pick from.

The following are the ten which formed our list:

Aromi which has three locations in the city. It is a Sicilian bakery that serves up authentic sourdough pizza and focaccia slices.

Scott’s All Day on Mill Road also serves up sourdough pizzas. La Biga Pizza promises customers “to bring the great Napoli pizza to your home”.

Limoncello is an Italian deli serving homemade pizzas until late. Giovanni’s Caffe and Pizzeria is an independent family-owned cafe on Burleigh Street.

Signorelli’s Deli is another popular pizza place in Cambridge, Tradizioni and Al Pomodoro are all about traditional Italian food, whereas La Margherita serves up “Italian classics with a modern twist”. Oscar’s Lockdown Pizza @ The Blue Moon is one of the newest Cambridge takeaway pizza companies which describes itself as a Neapolitan pizza takeaway.

But, of course, there can only be one winner and the results are in! So without further ado, let’s reveal the top three pizza restaurants in Cambridge.

■First place – La Biga Pizza

With a whopping 110 votes, this Cambridge local pizza van has earned itself the title of being the best pizza place in Cambridge. This is proof that you don’t need a restaurant location to serve delicious pizza.

La Biga Pizza promises customers “to bring the great Napoli pizza to your home,” and it seems customers are agreeing with the truth of that statement. It describes its menu as “humble” with everything handmade with quality ingredients.

The pizza van began in 2018 by Nurten who “had a dream of bringing healthy food to people who live in areas of Cambridgeshire that had to travel very far to have enjoyable food”.

■Second place – Aromi Fitzroy Street

Aromi received 78 votes from readers. Aromi claims to be a “slice of Sicilian life” in Cambridge.

The family-run cafe and pizzeria has been in Cambridge since 2013, serving up authentic food specialising in sourdough pizzas. Of course, Aromi also serves up other loved features of Italian food like focaccia, arancini, a traditional selection of cakes, cannoli and artisan gelato.

■Third place – Signorelli’s Deli Burleigh Street

With 23 votes, Signorelli’s Deli was able to snatch that third position. The popular pizza place in Cambridge that calls itself an “authentic Italian cafe” serves up homemade pizza to the people of the city.

The cafe has existed in the centre of Cambridge since 2016 and serves up everything delicious about Italian cuisine from pizza to cannoli from Sicily, tiramisu, and gelato, all made daily. The cafe also doubles as a wine bar and wine shop, so you can enjoy your pizza and wine in the true Italian way.
