‘He’s one of the most prolific and compelling people in music history’
AUTHOR’S NEW BOOK IS ALL ABOUT ALBUMS OF FORMER CRAZY HORSE FRONTMAN NEIL YOUNG
AN author who grew up in Burton on Trent has published a book about the albums of Neil Young.
Chris White, who has been reviewing music for more than 15 years, has written Neil Young: Album by Album – the most comprehensive, up-to-date overview of the ‘Heart of Gold’ singer’s music available.
The book covers all his studio albums from 1968 up to the end of 2022, offering in-depth track-bytrack reviews to give a multi-faceted look into each album, with reviews split into sections each covering a different phase of Young’s life.
A keen Derby County fan, Chris now lives in Horsham, West Sussex, and has included an entertaining essay ranking his albums, which include After the Goldrush, Harvest and Rust Never Sleeps, from worst to best.
He said: “With an illustrious career stretching back almost six decades and encompassing 50 solo studio albums alone, Neil Young is one of the most prolific, compelling figures in the history of popular music, equally revered as both as an acoustic singer-songwriter and as the force of nature frontman for the rock band of Crazy Horse.
“As he enters his late seventies, Young remains as energetic and relevant as ever, locking horns with streaming giant Spotify in protest against their alleged promotion of Covid misinformation, and continuing to release new music when many of his contemporaries have long since faded away into comfortable retirement.”
The book is out now in hardback, priced at £22.
