GRUFFALO DISCOVERY LAND LAUNCHED AT TWYCROSS ZOO
TWYCROSS Zoo has unveiled its new and improved The Gruffalo Discovery Land for all the family to enjoy.
The four acre piece of land, located at the heart of the North West Leicestershire attraction, brings together the much-loved characters from the bestselling children’s book.
With the real-life animals that inspired The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, it is the first attraction of its kind.
Visitors can discover three new interactive discovery zones –
Gruffalo Ranger
Training, live entertainment, improved pathways, refreshed landscaping and an enhanced visitor experience.
Plus, you’ll still be able to walk with the zoo’s birds, butterflies and goats, meet reallife snakes and owls, and have a treat at Oh Crumbs! Café, take home Gruffalo goodies, and meet The Gruffalo.
A spokesperson for the zoo said: “The land, complete with animatronics, film clips and much more, offers visitors an immersive experience in which they can step into the world created by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
“As they journey through the Deep Dark Wood, visitors will encounter Fox, Owl, Snake, Mouse and learn more about the real-life animals that feature in this family favourite story. “Following improvements to the area, the land now features three brand-new activity zones which have been designed with children in mind, to create an enhanced educational and sensory experience.” Entry to The Gruffalo Discovery Land is included in the price of admission to the zoo. In addition to The Gruffalo Discovery Land, visitors to Twycross Zoo can enjoy 100 acres of space with more than 70 species of animals, and can now benefit from a new annual ticket, which allows visitors to pay for a day and visit free for 12 months.
