Over 1950 years ago, the Sigiriya Lion Rock was a solid base for a magnificent palace hideaway for a Lankan king. Sigiriya Rock Fortress has many legends and tales surrounding it. History records that it was the magnificent, secret fortress and pleasure palace of King Kashyapa. Today at ‘Ayugiri Resort’, guests can enjoy the pleasure of rediscovering nature under the shadow of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding area of the Rock is home to a number of star class hotels, but a few enjoy the view of Sinhagiri. ‘Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort’, the latest addition to the fast growing destination of Sigiriya, is the only resort in the region with a fully fledge Ayurveda Treatment Centre with two qualified doctors and a certified pharmacy.
