Moors SC secure third win to remain unbeaten

- M. SHAMIL AMIT

Moors SC maintained their unbeaten record as they secured their third successive win of the SLC Major Club T20 Cricket Tournament when they defeated BRC - who are in the same group - by three wickets in their match played at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place yesterday.

BRC taking first lease of the wicket after Skipper Malinda Pushpakumara had won the toss were made to struggle for their runs and with no significant contributions or partnerships they managed to make a modest score of 131.

Moors SC too underwent some anxious moments and thanks to a knock of 45 in 29 balls with five boundaries and two sixes by Sohan de Livera and useful contributions coming from Skipper Ramesh Mendis and Rohan Sanjaya helped them to race to the target with seven balls to spare.

Meanwhile Chilaw Marians CC chalked up their first win of the tournament when they overcame Badureliya SC by four wickets in the match played at the P Sara Oval in Colombo yesterday.

The two matches in the evening session at both the venues were abandoned due to bad weather. SSC were 12 for no loss against Negombo CC and Ace Capital CC were seven for no loss when the match was called off. Results:
