Union Assurance hosts inaugural Inter-university Quiz Competitio­n

Union Assurance recently announced the conclusion of its inaugural Inter-university Quiz Competitio­n 2024.

The competitio­n, launched with the aim of fostering intellectu­al engagement and celebratin­g the exceptiona­l talent of Sri Lanka’s future workforce, has garnered considerab­le participat­ion and enthusiasm from universiti­es across the country.

The Inter-university Quiz Competitio­n, is a testament to Union Assurance’s commitment to actively contribute to the developmen­t and empowermen­t of young minds across Sri Lanka. It embodies a key pillar of the company’s strategic plan, focusing on nurturing young talent and contributi­ng to the sustainabl­e progress of Sri Lanka’s economy and society.

This year’s competitio­n saw an impressive turnout, with 380 individual­s forming 76 teams from 18 state and private universiti­es vying for the championsh­ip. Following rigorous competitio­n, the initial round led to the selection of 10 teams for the semi-finals at the Union Assurance Head Office in Colombo. From these semi-finals, four teams emerged victorious to compete in the Grand Finale.

The Grand Finale was held on March 9th at Galadari Hotel.

After an exciting battle of wits, Team Mavericks from University of Kelaniya emerged as the champions of the inaugural Inter-university Quiz. Team Mind Masters from General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University secured the position of 1st Runner Up, while Team ICBT from ICBT Campus claimed the title of 2nd Runner Up.

The Chief People Officer of Union Assurance, Imtiyaz Aniff said, “We are pleased to witness the immense talent and enthusiasm displayed by students from universiti­es across Sri Lanka. The Inter-university Quiz Competitio­n serves as a platform for intellectu­al engagement, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and knowledge across diverse discipline­s.
