Barbarians Marina Alta Rugby

- By Mac

AFTER a welcome Christmas and New Year break, The Barbarians return to action in 2024 starting this weekend with the senior teams playing a home game against Tatami, at the Denia stadium, starting 16.00 Saturday.

Although the Barbarians have several injuries, the squad has been working hard in training and are looking forward to a tough game against their rivals from Valencia.

The following week, the promoted under16s, now playing in the Valencia first division, take on the Valencian champions, Las Abelles B in the first game of this new promotion season. They certainly have a tough task ahead of them, where they will play all the top teams in Valencia over the coming six weeks, but the Ba Bas are certainly looking forward to the challenge.

The Barbarians are in full training mode and are looking for players across all ages to join the emerging squads for 2023-24.

Our training sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday, and are for academy players from under six to under 16s, from 17.30-20.00 (exact times vary for differing age groups), and seniors, including under 18s, from 20.00-22.00.

If you have played before in the UK, still fancy a game, and live in the Marina Alta area, you are very welcome to have a run-out at training with the squad every Tuesday and Thursday.

We have players from Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, the UK, France, Italy, Canada, Chile and Ecuador. Basically, you could say we are a multinational set up which evokes the culture of

Barbarians rugby.

Free qualified coaching is available at all levels.
